Apex Legends Season 30: Marked has entered Split 2, bringing a substantial midseason update to the battle royale. Respawn's September 14 patch notes introduced Legend balance changes, loot adjustments, weapon buffs and a new ranked map rotation. Split 2 began September 15, making the changes immediately relevant to players returning to ranked and public matches.
Ranked gets a new map rotation
The biggest structural change is the ranked map pool. World's Edge, Olympus and Broken Moon are now in rotation, while Storm Point and E-District leave the ranked pool for this split. Respawn has also scheduled six ranked ladders between September 22 and November 1, creating shorter competitive windows for players who want to push their rank.
Legend balance changes
Several Legends received adjustments for Split 2. EA's notes describe changes intended to shake up the balance of the roster rather than introducing an entirely new Legend. Conduit, Fuse, Catalyst and Bloodhound receive buffs or upgrades, while other balance changes affect the current meta.
Bloodhound is particularly notable because Season 30 already gave the Legend a substantial rework, including updated tracking tools and the Allfather's Cloak ultimate. The Split 2 changes continue the process of refining how these abilities function in actual matches.
Loot and weapon changes
Respawn has also adjusted loot availability, including changes intended to make healing supplies more available and reduce empty containers. Three long-range weapons — the Triple Take, Bocek Compound Bow and Charge Rifle — receive buffs. These changes could influence weapon choices in a meta where long-range pressure remains important on several maps.
Anti-cheat becomes a major part of the update
One of the most closely watched parts of the current Apex conversation is competitive integrity. Respawn says it has implemented systems to detect unauthorized controller hardware or software across PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch 2. Players who trigger the detections can be actioned or banned following review.
The move follows earlier enforcement updates in September. Respawn said it had banned thousands of players in a recent seven-day period for cheating, including accounts connected to DMA-related activity and unauthorized controller devices.
What Split 2 means for players
For casual players, the most visible changes are likely to be the new map pool, loot distribution and weapon balance. Ranked players have another reason to pay attention because the new ladder schedule creates defined competitive windows.
For the wider Apex community, however, the anti-cheat changes may be the most significant long-term development. Respawn is clearly putting additional resources into detecting hardware and software that can provide unfair advantages, while continuing to update its systems as new methods appear.
Season 30 Split 2 is therefore not just a balance patch. It changes the competitive environment, adjusts the loot and weapon ecosystem and introduces another stage in Apex Legends' ongoing fight against cheating.
