Apex Legends' competitive-integrity crackdown has expanded again, with Respawn announcing that 258 Predator-ranked players have received 60-day suspensions for account sharing. The enforcement update was published September 18, 2026 after the anti-cheat team investigated reports of unusually long continuous ranked sessions among high-ranked accounts.
What Respawn investigated
The investigation focused on login activity and device information connected to high-ranked Predator accounts. Respawn said some accounts were being accessed from multiple distinct devices in patterns consistent with account sharing, particularly among console players.
According to the enforcement breakdown, 115 PlayStation players and 143 Xbox players received 60-day suspensions. Respawn said 258 Predator accounts were affected in total.
Why account sharing matters in Ranked
Ranked progression is designed to represent the performance of the person playing the account. When multiple people use one account, the resulting rank can reflect the combined performance of several players rather than one player's results. Respawn says account sharing is prohibited under its Terms of Service and can undermine the integrity of the Predator leaderboard.
The issue is particularly sensitive at the top of the ladder, where small differences in performance can determine leaderboard positions. By investigating device and login patterns, Respawn is attempting to identify activity that would be difficult to detect from match statistics alone.
Part of a wider anti-cheat push
The account-sharing enforcement comes shortly after Respawn introduced new detection systems for unauthorized controller hardware and software. Those systems apply across PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch 2.
Earlier in September, Respawn also reported a seven-day ban wave that included 8,609 cheating bans, along with enforcement connected to DMA-related activity, Titan controller devices and a newly detected cheat provider.
The company has also reported working with hardware maker Collective Minds, saying Apex-related cheats had been removed from the company's website and Discord servers.
What about false-ban reports?
Respawn addressed community reports claiming that some recent enforcement actions were affecting legitimate players in Bot Royale. The company said it reviewed the cases brought forward and confirmed that the bans it examined were valid. It also said it would continue reviewing credible reports of possible false positives.
What players should know
The message from Respawn is straightforward: account sharing is prohibited, and competitive-integrity enforcement is expanding beyond traditional cheat detection. Players who want to protect their accounts should avoid sharing login access and should not use unauthorized controller hardware or software intended to provide an advantage.
For Apex Legends, the significance goes beyond the 258 suspensions. The enforcement shows that Respawn is increasingly using account activity, device information and multiple detection systems to protect high-level Ranked play.
