The wait for the next chapter of Cliff Booth's story is over. Netflix has released the first official trailer for The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth, bringing Brad Pitt back as the stuntman and fixer he played in Quentin Tarantino's 2019 film Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood. The trailer arrived online on September 21, 2026, after a theatrical preview had been attached to screenings of Resident Evil.
This time, Tarantino is not directing. David Fincher directs the movie from a screenplay by Tarantino, bringing together two filmmakers with very different visual and storytelling identities. Netflix has scheduled an exclusive two-week IMAX theatrical run beginning November 25, followed by a global Netflix release on December 23.
Cliff Booth is back, but the setting has changed
The new story takes place in 1977 Los Angeles, eight years after the events of Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood. Cliff is no longer living in the exact world audiences saw in the first film. He works a series of jobs, including bartending and projection work, while also operating as a fixer for people in Hollywood.
The official synopsis describes a story involving murder, blackmail, theft and extortion. Cliff becomes involved after talent agent Karen Crosby, played by Elizabeth Debicki, calls on him regarding television star Charlie Peters, played by Scott Caan. The situation grows more complicated when Cliff encounters Peters' wife Toni and former football star Roderick “Hot Rod” Harrison.
A new crime story
The trailer suggests that the sequel is moving away from the fairy-tale atmosphere of the original and toward a darker crime story. The mysterious Verdusco brothers, played by Matt Groove and JB Tadena, are among the new characters creating trouble in Los Angeles.
That gives the film a different framework while keeping Cliff's unusual combination of charm, physical ability and willingness to operate outside the rules. Pitt is once again the central attraction, but the supporting cast gives the movie a considerably larger group of characters to work with.
Fincher and Tarantino together
The pairing of Fincher and Tarantino is one of the biggest talking points. Tarantino's script continues the character and world from Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood, while Fincher brings his own approach as director. Pitt and Fincher also reunite after their previous collaborations, including Se7en and Fight Club.
When can you watch it?
The movie will first play in IMAX theaters worldwide for two weeks from November 25, 2026. It then arrives on Netflix globally on December 23, 2026.
For fans of the original, the new trailer confirms that Cliff Booth remains the heart of the story while the sequel expands his world into a more dangerous 1970s Hollywood crime narrative. The next major step is the theatrical release in November.
