Nintendo's September 9, 2026 Direct brought a large batch of announcements for Switch 2 and Switch. Among the biggest reveals were Metroid Ravenous, a new 2D action-adventure starring Samus Aran, and Kirby and the World Beyond, a new 3D Kirby adventure planned for Switch 2.
Metroid Ravenous
Nintendo described Metroid Ravenous as an intense new 2D action adventure. The presentation showed Samus facing dangerous creatures and highlighted the game's return to side-scrolling exploration and combat.
Kirby and the World Beyond
Kirby's next adventure moves into expansive 3D landscapes. Nintendo says the game is coming exclusively to Nintendo Switch 2 next spring, giving the franchise another large-scale visual and gameplay direction.
Other Highlights
The Direct also highlighted projects including a conclusion to the Final Fantasy VII remake series, a Switch 2 edition of Pikmin 4, a major Monster Hunter Wilds expansion and Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity – Definitive Edition.
Why the Direct Matters
The announcements show Nintendo continuing to build out the Switch 2 library with both new games and expanded versions of established franchises. Release dates and regional availability can vary, so players should check Nintendo's local store pages for final details.
