Kojima Productions has released a new teaser for Death Stranding: Isolations, a hand-drawn 2D animated series set in the game universe and planned for Disney services in 2027.
Death Stranding: Isolations has received a new teaser and a fuller story outline. Kojima Productions shared the update on October 30, 2026, during its tenth-anniversary event in Tokyo. The animated series is planned to stream exclusively on Disney+ or other Disney services in 2027.
The project is set in the world of Death Stranding, but it is not a direct retelling of the games. Kojima Productions says the series will tell a new story following a young man and a young woman as they navigate a world reshaped by the Death Stranding. Its visual approach is traditional, hand-drawn 2D animation, produced by E&H production.
A new story rather than a game recap
The released synopsis describes a young girl whose mother has become a crater and who grows accustomed to living in isolation after the catastrophe. The narrative then widens into a post-disaster North America, in the period after Sam reconnects the continent through the Chiral Network. The series is positioned as another perspective on the consequences of connection, rather than a simple adaptation of the original game plot.
The creative team
Takayuki Sano is directing, Ilya Kuvshinov is handling character design, and E&H production is responsible for the animation. Kojima Productions also confirmed that author Tow Ubukata has joined as series composition and screenplay writer. Hideo Kojima is executive producer.
Release details still to come
The current release window is 2027, with Disney+ or other Disney services named as the exclusive streaming destination. No exact premiere date or episode count has been announced. International availability can also vary by market, so viewers should wait for local Disney announcements before assuming a specific regional launch date.
