Bandai Namco has announced a new free-to-play Gundam team-battle game for PS5 and Steam. A firm release date has not been published.
A new multiplayer entry in the Mobile Suit Gundam Battle Operation series is on the way. Mobile Suit Gundam: Battle Operation 3 was announced as part of the franchise’s 40th-anniversary game programme, with PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam listed as platforms.
The official English site describes an online team-combat experience built around Mobile Suits from the Gundam universe. The title is planned as free-to-play, with some paid content. At the time of the announcement, the page did not provide a firm release date, so players should avoid treating speculation about a launch window as confirmed information.
What is known so far
The core proposition is familiar to fans of the series: choose a Mobile Suit, coordinate with teammates and fight in objective-focused online battles. A new numbered entry gives the developers an opportunity to update the roster and systems, but detailed explanations of maps, modes, progression and monetisation will be needed before players can judge how substantial the changes are.
For PC players, the Steam listing broadens the platform options beyond PlayStation. Cross-platform features and matchmaking rules should be checked against the final service documentation rather than assumed from the presence of both platforms.
What to watch before launch
Look for official updates about network tests, regional availability, minimum PC specifications, account requirements and the full monetisation model. Free-to-play describes the entry price; it does not tell players how progression, cosmetic purchases or time-limited content will work.
The confirmed headline is straightforward: Battle Operation 3 is announced for PS5 and Steam, but its release date and several practical details remain outstanding.
