A second part of the Made in Abyss theatrical series has been announced. No release date has been confirmed yet.
Made in Abyss is continuing its story on the big screen. The first instalment of its new theatrical series, Awakening Mystery, opened in Japan on October 23, 2026, and a second part was confirmed around the film’s release. The announcement gives the project a longer theatrical runway, but it does not yet provide a release date for Part 2.
Promotional material has drawn attention to Srajo, the White Whistle known as the Hail Hex. The character is voiced by Nana Mizuki, with additional cast members introduced for the new theatrical project. These details offer fans a clearer look at the next stretch of the story without revealing how the second film will be scheduled.
What has actually been confirmed?
The reliable points are that Part 1 has reached Japanese cinemas, a second part has been announced, and Srajo is part of the new promotional focus. A specific premiere date, overseas rollout and detailed plot synopsis for Part 2 should not be assumed until the production committee releases them.
A Japanese theatrical announcement does not automatically mean that a film will open in every territory on the same date. International distribution, subtitles and local cinema bookings are usually confirmed separately.
Why a two-part theatrical story makes sense
The Abyss is a world built around escalating discoveries, dangerous environments and characters whose motivations are not always obvious. Dividing a long arc across multiple films can give the production room to preserve atmosphere and detail, although it also means viewers may need to wait between instalments.
Fans should use official franchise announcements and regional distributors as the source of truth for future dates. The clearest update is that the second theatrical chapter is in the plan—not that it is already scheduled.
