Samsung One UI 9 Rollout Begins: Galaxy AI Features in 2026

Samsung has started the official rollout of One UI 9, bringing a new software experience and expanded Galaxy AI features to more Galaxy devices. The rollout began on September 16, 2026 with the Galaxy S26, S26+ and S26 Ultra, after One UI 9 first debuted on Samsung’s newer foldable models. For Galaxy owners, the update is significant because Samsung is putting more of its intelligence features directly into everyday tasks rather than treating AI as a separate set of experimental tools.

One UI 9 focuses on making the Galaxy experience more personal and context-aware. Samsung says the update improves Galaxy AI across devices and introduces tools designed to help people capture, personalize and manage information more efficiently. The company is also continuing its broader effort to keep software experiences consistent across conventional smartphones and foldable devices.

One of the practical additions highlighted by Samsung is My FanCam. The feature can automatically track a selected person in recorded video and keep that person centered as the scene changes. Instead of manually cropping footage after recording, users can let the software reframe the video. This is useful for family videos, school events, travel clips and other situations where the camera operator cannot keep a subject perfectly centered.

The update also continues Samsung’s emphasis on personalization. One UI has increasingly moved beyond simple icon and wallpaper changes toward a system that adapts how information is presented. With One UI 9, Samsung is positioning Galaxy AI as a more integrated assistant that can help users understand information, organize content and interact with their phones in more natural ways.

The timing of the rollout is also important. Samsung is beginning with the Galaxy S26 family and expanding from there, while the company says more compatible devices will receive the update over time. Exact availability can vary by model, market and carrier, so Galaxy owners should check the software-update section of their device rather than assuming every model will receive the update on the same day.

For users upgrading from an older version of One UI, the biggest change may be the way AI features are woven into familiar workflows. Samsung’s approach is similar to the broader smartphone industry, where AI increasingly appears in camera editing, search, writing, communication and device management instead of being limited to a standalone chatbot.

Privacy and on-device processing will also remain important topics as AI becomes more deeply connected to personal information. Samsung has increasingly presented Galaxy AI as a combination of cloud and device-based capabilities, with availability depending on the feature and hardware. Users should therefore review individual feature requirements and permissions before enabling new services.

One UI 9 is more than a visual refresh. It represents Samsung’s attempt to make the phone a more useful assistant while keeping the traditional Galaxy interface familiar. As the rollout reaches additional models, the real test will be how often users rely on features such as intelligent video framing, contextual assistance and personalized information management in daily use.

For Galaxy users, September 2026 marks another step toward smartphones becoming software platforms that actively help with content creation, organization and communication. One UI 9 makes that direction more visible across Samsung’s lineup.
